Endure

What to do when the laughter subsides?
What to do when the anger intensifies?
What to do when the tears fail to fall?

What to do when your voice becomes mute?
What to do when your ears refuse to listen?
What to do when your prayers go unanswered?

What to do when your mind becomes stripped of its creativity?
What to do when these empty canvasses remain bare?
What to do when this instrument cannot hum even a single chord?

Endure. Pick up the pieces, as many as you can.
Endure. Lift yourself up, as frequently as is possible.
Endure. Trust in the Lord that this is not forever.
For I know the plans I have for you. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and hope.

What to do when your bedroom eyes become bored?
What to do when your infatuation for someone once deemed extraordinary disappears?
What to do when the taste of life becomes stale?

What to do when your broken bones and torn tendons refuse to heal?
What to do when your sicknesses pollute your entire mind?
What to do when your soul feels drained of its compassion?

What to do when the world swallows whole what your heart once desired?
What to do when your hunger to exist becomes null and void?
What to do when even breathing becomes difficult?

Endure. Pick up the pieces, as many as you can.
Endure. Lift yourself up, as frequently as is possible.
Endure. Trust in the Lord that this is not forever.
For I know the plans I have for you. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and hope.

This is another poem inspired by the Bible verse. The verse referenced is Jeremiah 29:11. It's one of the simplest and most straightforward poems I've ever written, but I like it for that very reason. You don't have to read too much into this to know what I'm trying to say.
