Let’s Go Back
It isn’t right
To be scared to go outside
What the hell is happening around me?
I want to swim in the ocean
I want to climb the mountains
I want to take in life for all that it’s worth
So why do I sit inside?
Scared to go to the outside
What’s happening all around me?
What’s happening to the world?
It’s sick with disease
With cruelty and anger
What can’t we go back?
To the place, we used to be
Where everything seemed so certain
When I wasn’t scared of dying
It’s where we want to be
Let’s please go back
No threats of danger, no anger
And little uncertainty
Just peace and ease
Just love and world harmony
So, where do we go from here?
Who’s left to give us answers?
Who’s here to appease our fears?
We’re shriveling with fear, and we’re crying
We must rise again and fight
We have to fight so we can rise again
We will rise above with strength
Hope will get us through
We’re scared now, I know
It’s ok; we’re grieving
As we remember all those we lost
Let’s promise not to lose any more
We’ll destroy this demon together
United we’ll even the score
Unified, we’ll stand together
Like our fathers did before
We will stand together forever
Peace is what we’re fighting for
Above this enemy, we will soar
And we won’t lose another
Together we’ll make it through
By doing all that we can do
Yeah, we’ll do what we can do
And together, we’ll make it through
And we won’t lose another
Above this terror, we’ll soar
We’ll soar forevermore
And we’ll even the score
This is my 9/11 poem.
