Discovering Her Smile

...Finding a place to rest your head after a long day of work
...Finding someone who will stand beside you through both the good times and bad  
...Finding refuge in the arms of another who loves you...if we could all feel so lucky
...Finding peace, comfort, joy, and companionship with another...we should all be so fortunate
...Reveling in all things good, for anything is better than feeling alone
...This world can be so beautiful when you feel comfortable in your own skin
...Today is a great day for you and all who truly love you

...Will you stand beside her as she slowly and carefully sheds this shell?
...It has taken more than 19 years for her to just peak her head
...Will you allow yourself to continue to love the person she has always been and will continue to be?
...Will you put aside your wrecked aspirations and embrace this amazing young woman before you?

...Those who love you will accompany you in your resurrection 
...And those who do not...well, hopefully, they will shut their blind eyes 
...If they don’t, we can mock them together
...And tell them how we’ve always been amused by their selective blindness 

...The wars you will be forced to face and the battles that, with some, you know you’ll never win
...The unfairness, the second looks, and the hateful words you undoubtedly will hear will one day subside
...The harshness of a mocking crowd is something that you will learn to drone out
...As you come to terms with those who judge while chastising the bigotry of this world

...Finding a place to rest your head after a long day of work

...Today is a great day for you and all those who truly love you

...Will it be too late when you realize that she’s asking not for your permission, but rather for your love?
...Re-examining her entire life under a microscope won’t do anybody any good 
...Will you try to at least listen to her, to do your best to understand, and continue to support her?
...If you hesitate, she might fall just far enough away that you will never be able to get her back

...Though some familiar faces will be lost along the way, some who appear as strangers now could become your closest of friends
...And some people will prove that they were exactly who you thought they would be 
...But as your story unfolds, those who reject you and those who accept you will separate from one another
...For your allies will receive and embrace you while your adversaries will eventually step aside

...This path of self-discovery has been squashed; this lifetime of second-guessing is forever over
...Trapped no longer by the hardships that you failed to understand 
...These verbal assaults and flinging fists will become softer and fewer in between
...With these hurtful words and hateful gestures removed, how the balance of power will begin to shift

The freedom that comes when freeing yourself from the preconceived notions and unfair constraints of the world.
