Disregarded

Bypassed, disregarded, ignored
A lifetime of glances
Vastness of nothing more
Yesterday just a pretty girl
But today, so much more
A tough pill to swallow
Yet consumed just the same
Present, but not here
Appearing, but not seen
A scene to be forgotten
Which it will be by you
You look right through me
As if I’m not even there
As if I don’t exist
Transparent as glass
Invisible as a ghost
The ways of the self-righteous
Wickedness without intent
Belittlement without consciousness
Too blind to see
Too absorbed to recognize
Your innateness flawed
Your discretion blind
Priorities over decorum
Agendas over civility
Wants over decency
A cycled pattern of vision
Soon your moment of awareness
A circumstance of chance
A moment not today
A place unforeseen
An individual less identified
A time that you’ll feel
Regarded as less
Disregarded the same
As when you disregarded me

Sometimes being ignored is the worst of all feelings.
