Away From You

In a place that doesn’t remotely resemble your heart.
Alone…I dream of you here by my side.
Draped only by the nighttime sky that illuminates this lake’s thick ripples.
Removed from anything that can provide comfort.
And, yet all of these memories come flooding back again.

Of passages that have come and gone.
Of flashbacks that still hit me sharply.
Of the times we shared
Of the memories we created.
Those cherished times when you were mine.

Away from you …
In a location that feels so uncharacteristically foreign.
Alone…I search for a sign underneath these midnight stars.
Shielding my face from the howling winds that rock this rickety skiff.
Devoid of any solace that can get me through this sleepless night.
And so all of these memories come rushing in again.

Of journeys that have ended long ago.
Of recollections that should have been forgotten.
Of the times we shared
Of the memories we created.
Those cherished times when you were mine.

This is about as straightforward as it can get. There's no subliminal meaning here.
